iSANS investigation: Russian media discredited Raman Pratasevich

Immediately after the incident with the forced landing of the Ryanair aircraft on 23 May 2021 that had capturing Raman Pratasevich as its main goal, Russian propagandists launched a targeted operation to spread disinformation about this incident aimed at English-speaking audiences.

According to the iSANS findings, this operation was carried out in the same manner that Russian and pro-Lukashenko groups usually do on Telegram. After an anonymous channel launches disinformation, it is picked up by the affiliated media, which “legitimize” the false information that then gets into the mainstream media.
