About Us
Voice of Belarus is a volunteer-led media initiative that sprang to life in August 2020, as mass protests swept through Belarus after a sham presidential election. Only Putin’s support has allowed the embattled impostor Lukashenko to cling to power. The two authoritarian regimes used Belarus’ territory as a launching ground for Russia’s treacherous invasion of Ukraine against the will of the Belarusian people. Lukashenko does the Kremlin’s bidding and has given up any pretense of acting independently. The sovereignty and very existence of Belarus and Ukraine are under threat.
Voice of Belarus proclaims for all the world to hear: Belarusians condemn this heinous crime and stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
Amid ongoing repressions and mass surveillance, Belarusians are protesting against the war. More than 1,500 people were arrested or prosecuted for anti-war protests. Still, Belarusians keep performing underground sabotage and resistance, including railway disruptions, economic resistance, and hacktivism. Many Belarusians living in Ukraine have joined territorial defense forces, stayed to keep working as doctors, and are volunteering to help those affected by the war in every possible way. Belarusians all over the world are donating funds and equipment to help Ukraine. Thousands of them are volunteering, helping refugees, and inviting them to live in their homes. The Belarusian diaspora is actively participating in anti-war rallies across continents.
Belarus’ president-elect Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has founded an anti-war movement with the objectives of supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, helping to stop the war, and returning power in Belarus to its citizens. It is the Belarusian people who speak for Belarus, not Lukashenko.
Voice of Belarus aims to aid the movement by bringing important news about Belarus and Ukraine to the world in nine languages.
